NEC (Nippon Electric Co.) IF Noise Test Set. Used.
DC to 250 MHz noise generator, 140 MHz Band pass filter (34.7 MHz wide) and an
Anritsu Precesion Attenuator Model MN-510D (DC-500MHz, 75 ohm, .1,1 & 10 dB steps)
The attenuator and band-pass filter can be removed or inserted via patch loops on the front
panel. Additional external filters can be inserted as the user requires.
This unit is for testing satellite Modems and links for Demodulator performance
in the presence of noise. The unit has a IF input where a calibrated noise level can be
added to the signal to perform BER performace test. The Carrier+Noise is then
connected to the Demod. By varing the noise level, changing the C/N, waterfall curves
can be plotted of the Demods N+Eb/no performace, per the satellite operators requirments.
The unit also has an internal divider for testing Adjacent Channel Interference as required
by some satellite service providers. Typically 2 carriers are added into the pass band, above
and below the test carrier and then run a BER test again.
This unit works perfectly, is clean, has all the loop plugs. With power cord for 115 VAC
