Here's a handy IC to have for lots of different remote control or decoder uses. These are new MT8870DE Dtmf decoder ICs manufactured by Zarlink.
This IC comes in a 18 pin PDIP as pictured and is capable of decoding all 16 DTMF tones. These ICs are easy to put into operation and only require a colorburst 3.579545 or 3.58 MHZ crystal or resonator to function.
