Burndy hand hydraulic pump Y10HP crimp head Y46 w/hose
This is a very cool tool that I found at an Estate Sale earlier this season.
It is a 10,000 PSI "Burndy" Hand Hydraulic Pump, Crimper Head and Hose. The information lables read as follows:
*Burndy Y10HP Hand Hydraulic Pump, overload set for 10,000 PSI for use on Y35BH, Y60BH or on units which operate at 10,000 PSI. Burndy Corp., Norwalk, Connect. The number on the front foot peg is 899, the number on the back foot peg is 3-0848, the number on the pump is 852, the number on the pump head is 77R99.
*Burndy Crimper Head Y46 10,000 PSI Burndy Corp. P77R02-4.
* Burndy Hose Insulated High Pressure Hose pt. No. 29495. tested at 75KV/FT for 5 minutes.
These things sell new for around $3000.00, so used is defiantly the way to go.
To make sure it was still strong I put a 1/2 inch steel bolt between the jaws and it bent like tinfoil, with no effort of the pump end. There is a piston retreive in this pump which is also working fine as when you turn the release valve the piston automatically returns back to the open position all by itself. They make various dies for crimping and cutting cables for this tool that can easily be had on the net.
The Crimper piston is in great shape as you can tell by the picture showing the piston extended. No rust or pitting, everything seems to be functioning as designed.
The only issues I see with this tool is some of the cosmetic covering on this high pressure line/hose is chipped away but does not effect the performance of the hose.
There is also a small amount of leakage around the quick disconnect, if you do not open the valve to bleed the pressure off of the pump after use, which is very common with these pumps. And in no way inhibits the operation of this tool.
